Small Business Phone Systems -- PBX? Virtual PBX? Something Else? I'm planning on starting a small business that will require lots of inbound and outbound phone calls. Including conference calling and setting up conference bridges. I want to know, should I be putting money into an OnSite PBX system or a Virtual PBX system? And if either, who is the best business that provides this service?
What is the best small-business phone system and why? I'm looking to replace my current, very old business phone system with a new model. I have tried to research for the systems offering the most features but am having a tough time figuring out which systems, if any, provide the features I need. Specifically, I need a system with auto-attendant that can be configured to ring phones in a specific order based on the callers choices. (ie. for sales, system hunts in order of 1,2,3 but for service, system hunts in order of 3,2,1) In other words, I have personel who are very good at sales but can also do customer service and also have personel who are very good at customer service but can also do sales. I want to route calls to the best people without having to dedicate any individual exclusively to one department. I also want the auto-attendant to have the capability to transfer to outside phone numbers. Lastly, I also need voice-mail capability and night attendant. I'm aware that many do these things, but which is the best?
Business Phone Systems? Can u tell me some sites which give information about choosing right phone systems for my business?
Could DSL interfere with a business phone system's paging/intercom feature? I Recently purchased a 4 phone system for my business. The phones work fine, but when I try and page a station or even all stations I just hear dead air. When I do the same with intercom there is a long continuous tone. DSL is running on the same line but filters are installed on all phones, could this be my problem?
What kind of business phone system do I need? I want to install a phone system at my office with 8 lines but have each of those eight lines available to each of the five rooms in my office. With eight seperate numbers, in which anyone of the five people in their office can answer those individual lines. Someone from ATT told me centrex would not be suitable, that I need multi-line telephones, but I can't find phones that offer more than four lines. Please help.
Comcast business phone systems? I am setting up a small office and trying to decide what I need phone wise. There will be 6 offices, 3 receptionist, and a conference room There will be a total of 10 lines. We want a system where there is a main office line which goes to a receptionist and she can then transfer calls to the respective offices. Each person also needs a line to make outgoing calls and we would like them to have direct lines as well. Where should we be looking/ doing? Thanks in advance. We know it may be necessary to set up a phone system, but at this point I want to see what I would be able to do myself. By the way we will be using comcast.
Recording Specific Extensions within a Business Phone System? I am currently searching for a recording system that will record phone conversations at specific extensions within our office phone system. We do not want to record every conversation on our main line, but rather conversations within specific extensions. For example, not every conversation that occurs at (123) 555-5555, but every conversation at (123) 555-5555 ext.444. How can this be accomplished? Thank you so much in advance!
Need a new business phone system? Our office is planning on hiring more employees in a few weeks. There will be a total of now 10 workers taking calls for different areas (sales, service, etc). We need someone that knows what they're doing to come take a look and possibly install whatever equipment we might need. Anyone in South Florida know a decent company that won't sell us more than we need?
Looking for business phone system? Our small business is looking for a KSU-less phone system that also has some sort of cordless headset capabilities (either through a separate phone extension or as an attachment). We don't know much about phone systems, so any help is appreciated! There are three phone stations, wired for 2 lines.
Business Phone System for Cell Phones? I am a high school student and own my own business. I have a problem since I need to answer business phone calls via cell phone since I am at school during business hours. I have heard of services that provide you with your own business phone number, automated answering set-up, and call forwarding to your cell phone. Does anyone know of any services like this or have any other solutions to my problem? Thank you.

Help on a basic business phone system? I have been trying to do some research on getting a phone package/system for my needs, but the internet sites I have been using are going over my head, so thought I'd try and get advice here. Our situation is: We have a small business/shop. There are only three people that work in the business. We have one phone line which deals with our main number, and another which handles the fax and card machine. We have the phone number printed on all business stationery, and i am concious that when this phone is engaged, we could be missing out on sales (we have an answerphone, but I'm sure a large % of people won't leave messages) So... is there a cost effective way of attaching another phone to this one line, and one phone number, so that it can be used on two different conversations at the same time? Any help would be appreciated! Mike
Business Requirements For Emergency Phone Lines? Does anyone know what the requirements are for emergency phone lines when businesses run in-house phone systems? For example, if the power goes out, the phone system cannot be used to call 911. Thanks.
How do I start my own phone sex business? I have already researched the different call types as well as the phone systems and software and want to know what is the next step? If anyone has any genuinely useful information please advise!
What is the best phone system for a small business? We have a Verizon Analog system now, and the cost is around $3500. We are looking to lower costs and find something more reliable with easier access for switching lines. The business is a hair salon in NYC and we frequently need to change lines and put people on hold, and transfer them to other people. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

How to tun off ringer for Panasonic vb-44223 DBS [digital business system] phone? Hi Everyone,... even phone technicians can't figure this out. We can only raise/lower the ringer volume. But, can not make the ringer silent. [leaving the phone free to use. as in, not putting it on Do Not Disturb mode, etc.] The model is vb-44223 in the DBS [digital business system] line of phones. I've even read through the flippin' manual, here: http://www.retrevo.com/search/v2/jsp/mytrevo/myTrevo.jsp?page=man Thanks very much, in advance!
Suggestions for an inexpensive business phone system? We currently lease a Nortel Norstar phone system, but would like to buy a system flat out so we can eliminate monthly payments and manage it ourselves (we currently get billed if we call just to ask a question, and we have to have them come in to add/remove mailboxes, etc.). We have 10 employees right now, but have 14 extensions currently open in the office (2 are empty desks, and 2 are common area rooms). We would need a good voice mail system that is remotely accessible, auto-attendant and automatic call distribution, music while on hold would be nice, and the ability to automatically forward calls to other extensions or outside numbers. We do not have VoIP or anything fancy like that -- we pay our phone company for 6 lines (one of which is a fax line). We only have one phone number public, which seems to automatically connect to any of the 5 lines depending on which is open. Can anyone recommend an affordable and easy to manage phone system?
What are my options for a NON-VIOP business phone system? VOIP is not an option. Please help me out!? I'm trying to upgrade my companies current phone system. We currently use an Avaya phone system, and Verizon as our service provider. What we're looking to do is upgrade our conference capabilities. Right now we can only have two external parties connected unless we use a dial in number. Although the dial in number works my boss would prefer for us to be able to simply call people and add them to the call as needed, as well as let them call in when needed. In addition he would like to be able to transfer the call to a another phone if need be. For many reasons a VOIP system has been ruled out and is not an a option (although it seems like an easy solution, trust me I've been pushing for it). There has to be a non-VOIP phone system out there that can handle these simple tasks. Please help!
What phone system does your medium business use? We have about 20-30 extentions. 6 people are remote. Tell me if this fits what you use. What do you use? and would you recommend it? why or why not? Thanks! I will not open links in spam answers. However, I will report them...Please just answer the question! Thanks!
Cordless phone system for business? A friend is looking for a cordless phone system for a business, that can take at least 6 incoming lines, has 7-10 handsets (not including the handset connected to the line.), can support extensions, allow call forwarding among handsets, and each extension having their own answering 'mailbox.' Is there any like that, or is it just wishful thinking?
Which phone system for small business - Devon, UK? My friend is setting up a small business in Devon, UK. He will only have himself and 2 employees to begin with so I'm wondering what kind of small-scale phone system would be best to use. Possibility of expansion would be good. Are there any good systems from BT? Cheers
Does a small business need a PBX? Can't we just use cell phones? I am starting a small business with 2 partners. They want us to buy some kind of mini PBX for a business phone system. I say--no way. Can't we just use cell phones? Who wants a desk phone these days? There must be a way to buy a plan where you can transfer phone calls to each other, and maybe even have an auto-attendant feature, right? If anyone has used cell phones instead of a PBX, I would love to know what you used and how well it worked. Thanks!
What is a good low cost autoattendant phone service for a small business? I am trying to find a good system, most likely a model of phone someone has some information on, that is capable of the "press 1 for sales, press two for service" etc. interactive menu for a small business (no more than 4 phone lines). IVR equipment all seems to be $7000 and up, but just an autoattendant is fine. $7K is way more than I'll be able to spend, I am more looking for equipment around $1000 or less. There are also some "subscription services", which I would like to avoid. If the phone will transfer to a vonage line, that would be a great thing. Anyone who has had to set up this kind of system for a small business, please let me know what you chose, and why! Thanks...
I need phone system for a small business.? One line only. I need one that will allow callers to press 1 for directions, press 2 for hours, press 3 for...., press 4 to speak with a live person. Do I need a system or can some type answering machine do this? Maybe option for different greeting when business is closed.
How do you connect Music to Avaya Partner ACS & Lucent phone system while on hold? I don't really have a ton of knowledge about small business phone systems. I am attempting to play royalty free music over our phone system while we put people on hold. We have an Avaya (old school Lucent) Partner ACS system with 1 main unit and 2 extension units. It is R 4.1 version and we are currently running 4 lines off it and 10 extensions. There is a "Music on Hold" RCA jack in the front of the main unit. Right now we have an RCA cable attached to that from a computer where we are playing music to get it working. We hear nothing and have tried numerous things like making sure the feature is programmed on a phone, etc. Any help or ideas? Do we need a music coupler to make this work or a smaller watt source? Thanks for your help!
Small business looking for new phone system..Avaya, BCM, or Samsung? My company is looking into buying a new phone system. Debating between Avaya, BCM,and Samsung? Advice? Avaya phone system programming? We just bought a new small business phone system. We only one private office, and need to be able to answer all calls at any phone, have all call ring through to all phones and ring several times, only one phone will have voice mail. We need to be able to switch phones easy and have the call follow. Right now when we get an incomming call it goes strait to "Sorry your party can't be reached right now" I looked it up and It sounded like abreviated ringing so I deactivated that on all extensions, but it still does it. What are the best programing setup for us? What settings should we set? How can we get incoming calls to ring through?
Is there a way to get a phone system that's hosted elsewhere? Our CFO wants to find out if there's an option out there where we can get a business phone system (but NOT VoIP) that's hosted somewhere else -- similar to server hosting -- and just have our phones and plug them in and go. The only thing I can think of like this is VoIP, but we are in a 2 year contract with Verizon for our 6 current phone lines, and he doesn't want VoIP. Is there anything out there that does this, or does he want something that doesn't exist?
Should I buy a hosted VoIP Phone System for my business? I'm looking for a phone solution for by business and I've heard that hosted VoIP phone solutions can save companies money. I've also heard that they have cool features that other phones don't, but I'm not sure if it's right for my business and I don't know what these features are. I'd love to hear any info on this before making a purchase.
business multi phone lines...? Can anyone recommend a good working, clear connection, multi-line phone system for a office that'll need at least 5-7 multi lines?

Small business looking for new phone system...Avaya, BCM, or Samsung? My company is looking into buying a new phone system. Debating between Avaya, BCM,and Samsung? Advice? How do you take a voice mail on a office phone and transfer to PC? The business I am working with has a standard phone system (not VOIP). We want to set up a phone so that customers can call in and record their testimonials. We then want to transfer those voice mails to the PC so we can edit the testimonials, make podcasts etc. My issue is, how to get the voice mail from the phone to the PC?
What does it mean to incorporate your business? My husband works as an independent contractor (service/installation of phone systems, etc) and has come across a few companies that he would like to do sub work for (such as AT&T, etc) that have told him they only sub out their work to actual businesses and if he would just come up with a comany name and incorporate it then they could use his services. Is it really that simple? Are there tax issues that have to be thought of....we really don't know if this is something we should look into doing or not.
what kind of phone system should I get for a small business? Do I need PBX, Centrex, a key system? Or something simpler-- like just plugging the phones into the wall? There's only two of us now, and the office can hold up to 5 people. I don't think we'll need more than 2-3 lines max. We want to be able to pick up lines from any phone, transfer calls, and get voicemail. My building has Verizon FIOS, and they say I can just get 2-3 lines with them (plus separate data) and phones that have the capability to handle multiple lines, transferring, etc. I'll voice mail, call forwarding, etc. through Verizon-- just plugging them straight into the phone jack. The building has some kind of telecom closet. Does that work? I don't have to buy some kind of $3000 "box" of some sort? Simpler is better...
What phone system do you recommend? I manage a small business and everyone works from home. Do you know of a VOIP phone system that I could get virtual numbers with extensions, then have calls answered by an answering service...then forwarded to the worker's number at home? I tried Skype, but I don't think it does that. or does it?
