What is the difference between an IP-Pbx telephone system and a normal PBX? So i am looking for a telphone system for my small sized company. We need something that provides us one phone number but in case the line is busy another staff member can get the diverted call even though he/she is sitting in a completely seperate country. What are the differences between IP-PBX and normal PBX systems. We have roughly 14 employees so would need around that many phone lines of similar numbers. Thank you. P:s could you also link some product if u have in mind thanks.
How do I set up an IP PBX system with my VOIP service and 4-line analog phones? I have an internet connection, a VOIP service provider-supplied ATA with 2 cloned lines, and 3 analog 4-line phones. I'm planning on purchasing 2 more cloned lines for a total of 4 lines/2 phone numbers. What equipment do I need to connect my 3 analog phones to be able to use all 4 VOIP lines along with transfer/park/intercom/call waiting/extensions/auto attendant functions? I know I need a PBX, but I don't know if it's an IP PBX I need, or just a regular PBX. and do I need an FSX gateway, or can I just use my two 2-line ATA's? I want to use a hardware PBX such as Grandstream or Talkswitch, not a self-managed system like Asterisk/TrixBox. But the Grandstream PBX seems to only have 2 line capabilities, while I need 4. Any recommendations for me? Is there any other equipment that I need? Thanks! Thanks guys, but I'm on a limited budget and don't want to 1) start over with all brand new equipment 2) use hosted PBX with a monthly cost per seat. The Icon TOS-3000 looks like it only works with IP phones and has only a single FSX port for analog connections. Plus, it's too expensive. the phones I'm using are 1x RCA 25425RE1 (autoattendant built in, but crappy) and 2x RCA 25424RE1 (same phone without autoattendant and vmail) Why don't I use an 8 port ATA as opposed to 2x 2 port ATAs? I already have one and signing up for a new SIP trunk would get me another free 2 port ATA, thus 4 ATA ports for free vs and 8 port for $200+ used. All I really need to know is what I need to add to my current system to make it meet my needs. I'll be using VOIP service (2x 2 cloned lines from same provider) on 3x RCA analog 4-line business phones (each with 2x 2-line input jacks) Do I need a 4 port FXS Gateway or can I juse use my 2x 2 port ATAs (HT-502)? Not sure
How do I determine the range of IP addresses assigned by DHCP? How do I determine the range of IP addresses assigned by DHCP? I need to assign an IP address to a PBX phone system. This IP address needs to be outside the range of IPs assigned by my DHCP server.
Compare VoIP Phone systems? What are the Pros and Cons between 3CX IP phone system and other PBX phone system? I want to know the technical requirements, knowledge and how it works.
Can I use IP phones on my internal network without VOIP service? I need a pbx style phone system in my business but I dont have the funds for a traditional system. I have a wired/wireless ethernet system already installed throughout my business and was wondering if there was a way to use IP phones through the network internally without an outside VOIP service provider?
XP ICS and IP phone problem? I am trying to hook up a IP phone at a remote location, the only source of internet at the location is a wireless USB card. What I am trying to do is share the USB wireless card's connection using XP's internet connection sharing and a crossover cable on a LAN card. This works OK, the phone has access to the internet and reports to the PBX system at the remote location fine. The problem is that ICS changes the IP and port numbers (it usually appends "59" to each, so the PBX sees an IP address of xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx59:xxxx59) Obviously that is not possible so the PBX refuses the registration and the phone gets no connection. I've tried forwarding the appropriate ports in the "settings" connection of the wireless properties menu but ICS is still appending numbers to the IP and port numbers. I believe this system would work fine if ICS would stop adding/altering information. Is there any way to keep ICS from changing port/ip addresses? If not are there any other good third party programs that will let me share a internet connection between a computer and a "dumb" OS-less device? Thanks! ICS is configured fine, the phone has DCHP support and picks a valid IP on the network fine (192.168.0.xxx) The problem is that ICS adds "59" to the IP and port numbers when the phone tries to connect to the PBX system through certain ports (the SIP registration port, 5060 to be exact.) Telling the host computer to forward the SIP port directly to the phone does not work. The logs from the phone show that it is connecting just fine however the IP and port numbers are invalid so the phone does not complete the registration. This is a problem with ICS as the phone works on the same network just fine if It is wired directly to the router. ICS is adding information for some reason, either a firewall (I have all firewalls turned off) or some other security measure. Is it possible to turn those features off? There are no settings to do so in any GUI menus so I am assuming that there is a configuration file that needs to be modified I just don't know where to look. I guess I'm not allowed to answer my own question? The solution was using a network bridge instead of ICS. A computer with a wireless card can act as a wireless bridge assuming it has a wired LAN card. Both network adapters must be forced into compatibility (or promiscuous) mode. This is explained in detail here... http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6879&sid= More about wireless bridges... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_bridge
Curious to know if any small business is initerested in hosted PBX? Hosted PBX is the notion that your service providers hosts your phone system for you. Then over an IP connection you are connected to that service provider. You don't have to manage anything. you simply plug ini your IP phone. Who is familiar with this concept?
can a phone line to a (non voip) pbx be substituted with a voip line? Just wondering if I could use the voip line coming from my naked dsl modem, to plug in my pbx system instead of using a direct phone line. Essentially the info pumped through the voip line from the modem is the same as a regular phone line right? so is this a work around to upgrading my existing functional pbx with an ip pbx? at home i have naked dsl and i have an dsl voip modem/router which has a voip line built in. Basically u enter all the sip details into the modem then plug a regular phone into the voip plug hole in the modem. will a pbx work through this phone port too?

If I set up my own IP-PBX, I still have to pay money to use a SIP gateway provider? I was going to use Asterisk and set up my own IP-PBX but, I will still need a SIP gateway provider? And, that costs money. I guess the real question, is there anyway I can set my system up so I can make free internet phone calls over the internet? Anyway around the SIP gateway provider.

Transferring a Analog PBX to a Switch/Patch Panel system? I am currently helping a company upgrade their system. They have an analog PBX Toshiba system all tied up in a 101-block system. I am thinking of changing it and having all the IP Phones going into a Patch Panel and then into a switch with 1 port going into the PBX system. Is it possible to have an analog PBX system going through a switch and Patch Panel?
