Toshiba Phone System

Who has the best customer phone support for computers? (see details)?

Might you kindly rank the following in customer support, from best to worst? (Acer, Dell, HP, Compaq, Toshiba, Sony) I'm shopping for a new system soon, and customer support is very important to a dummy like me - thanks! :)

  1. HP/Compaq (same company) Packard Bell Toshiba Acer Dell Sony
  2. Manufacturers don't offer phone support for dummy problems, they're there to report hardware faultsd request repairs to *hardware only*. You're best off finding someone local to help if can't operate a PC
  3. It used to be Dell. They would help you with any/every computer. I suspect Vista is killing them. I had a $2,000+ Dell. Using remote access for a couple of hours EVERY day for 30 days they tried to force Vista to work--it just would not! HP customized my Vista, it is the only one I have seen that can actually run Vista. It has touch-screen and finger-print reader, too. When vista is flaky I tap my log on icon and it just boots up! It even bypasses the passwords! Good luck.
  4. My older brother has consistently BAD service from Dell...why he purchased 'two' computers from them, I'll never know... Honestly, though, I've had a number of IBM clones and never had poor service from SBC/ATT/Yahoo or any of the local computer shops. I would encourage you to check with your friends who live nearby and see who they use and are happy with...
