FFXI graphics are messed up...?

I have installed both Warhammer online and FFXI on my Toshiba Satellite model A305-S6858 which has Vista on it. Warhammer looks fine however FFXI isn't looking correct with mostly the characters and mobs in the game. They flicker and appear to only show some of the colors or all the colors and parts of the character or mob are missing. I'm not sure what settings I need to change if I can to make this work correctly. I have installed the newest DirectX and video drivers and still not working properly and this is even after I reinstalled the OS. Which I did for other reason. I am probably giving more info than needed or maybe not enough.. However if someone can direct me the direction needed to get this solved I would be most greatful! Thanks ahead of time! Its a specail fix for the graphic issue I am having...so if anyone knows of where I can find it that would be great! Untill then I will keep searching. Thanks! A friend of mine found a link on intels site that has the 64 bit version downloadable. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=2800&lang=eng If link wont work, just do the following: You go to Intels main page click downloads under work section. (takes you to a new window) Select "Graphics" on the left side Select "laptop graphic contollers" Select "Mobile Intel 965 express chipset family" (takes you to a new window) Just select the OS and go from there. As of last night they did have the vista home premium for downloading. I am not sure for the othe other os downloads. Hope this helps out! When I edit the question stating about the 64 bit driver being found, that was when I had the issue resolved... So thanks to you all for replying. Just glad I can play now with graphics back to normal.

  1. more detailed info about FFXI at http://www.gamevive.com/ and http://www.gmbar.com/
  2. Honestly, Yahoo Answers isn't the best place to get technical help for FFXI issues. I will try to help you, though, by giving you other places to look. First, though, I'm using FFXI on a Windows XP Pro x64 system with 8 GB RAM and an Intel quad processor, so 64-bit is not your problem. I suspect your problem is in your video / graphics driver. I say this because some NVidia drivers (8800) have similar character issues and also menu issues. NVidia released a set of fixes in a new driver for 8800 users and the problems went away (for the most part). When I have technical issues the places I go are: 1) Windower Forums: http://www.windower.net/forums/ is an outstanding place (even if you don't use Windower) to learn about technical FFXI issues. 2) Allakhazam.com : http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/ 3) FFXIClopedia.org and the associate forum: http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Main_Page and http://forums.ffxiclopedia.org/index.php 4) The support forums and technical support for your hardware (Toshiba and Intel for your graphics). Finally, 5) FFXI chat, E-Mail, or phone technical support. Why is this last? My experience is SE never takes responsibility for their client software running on a specific piece of hardware. They will direct you to #4 as they don't have your specific hardware and FFXI is working on tens of thousands of other PCs without an issue. Hence it must be something about your system and not FFXI. This is their's not mine typical words. FFXI does take server, security, etc technical issues seriously and works on them, but client side issues are generally not at the individual level.
