How to remove static from my home phone?
I have a voip service similar to Vonage and have the home security system connected to my voip phone. The setup was working fine until recently when the home security system started causing static interference on the home phone. I bought a DSL line filter and connected the security system phone line thru the dsl filter into the phone adapter but it didn't work. The static remained. Can anyone suggest how i can eliminate the static. Thanks

- You have a loose or corroded connection somewhere, or a damaged cable allowing water ingress. Fix that and the static will go away.
- a DSL filter will not eliminate static, it is used to filter the DSL signal from the phone signal on the phone line... while the DSL signal *might* sound like static, it is actually a digital/data stream, the filter separates the digital and analog signals that are passed over the phone line... connect your phone directly to the telephone adapter and see if you still have static on your line, if you do, then the problem is with your VoIP service, if not, then there is a problem with your inside wiring... First I would make sure that the wiring at the NID going out to the local telephone company wiring is disconnected, otherwise you are back feeding the outside telephone network, and can cause troubles on your line, or damage your phone equipment.. once you confirm that there is no static at the phone adapter, and that the wiring at the NID going to the local telephone wiring is disconnected, then you can continue troubleshooting the inside wiring inside your home... http://nyphonejacks.blogspot.com/2009/12/troubleshoot-no-dial-tone-and-static.html and replace any wiring if needed... http://nyphonejacks.blogspot.com/2009/12/how-to-wire-telephone-jack.html
