Toshiba Phone System

No A2DP (+EDR) support in Windows 7?

Hi! I tried to set up the MANHATTAN "2800 Acoustic Series" Bluetooth Bookshelf Speaker System, via A2DP (+EDF) on Windows 7 Ultimate (x32 or x64, both available). The Speakers use Bluetooth 1.2 and the A2DP protocol according to the manual/specs, but there were no drivers included (nor available for download on manufacturer's website). I bought 2 Bluetooth USB sticks, both Bluetooth 2.0 compliant (each supporting A2DP & EDF, at least one of them definately Bluetooth 1.2 compatible), and tried installing various software to get A2DP sound output, including the software delivered with one of the USB sticks/dongles (seperately, combined, etc.). The programs I tried included BlueSoleil, Broadcom, Anycom, Toshiba, Windows Mobile Device Center, and others I found in numerous Google searches. After trying all those, I returned the speakers, but they were sent back with a note "use pairing function" (which obviously can't work if the speakers aren't recognized/found by any other bluetooth device) after supposedly being tested by the (online) retailer. Does anyone know how to get A2DP sound output working on Windows 7? I managed to find cell phones with the Bluetooth USB sticks/dongles, but the speakers were not detectable. I guess I must somehow set up the A2DP sound output option before finding the speakers, but I barely have any experience with Bluetooth. Thanks. Hi! The speakers only have an "on" and an "off" button, so there is no "discoverable mode". Obviously it's either a problem with the speakers or a Windows 7 issue (quite sure it's Win7, since a google search for ""Windows 7 A2DP" turn up thousands of forums full of people describing similar problems on Windows 7).

  1. Fire up BlueSoleil once again. Put your speakers in discoverable mode, pair it up with the computer's bluetooth dongle. Once it's paired, right click the device and select Connect => Bluetooth AV Service Image example: http://www.a2dp.info/images/stories/soft/av.jpg Once it's connected, you need choose the Bluetooth sound device as your preferred sound output. You do this by right clicking the Volume icon in the system tray, choose Playback Devices and then choose the Bluetooth AV speaker as the default device. Assuming that you have done this right, the speakers should work, if it doesn't -- guess you'd have to return it.
