Voip over wan. is it possible to use fxo and fxs devices over wan?
In this way I will patch analog Patna line in fxo box and use it anywhere through fxs box over wan, without IP pbx

- There are routers that have FXO ports that connect to the exchange (the wall socket) and convert VoIP traffic to the regular telephone system. The FXS ports are what connect to telephone equipment, the handset / cordless phone, and provide power. NEVER connect FXS to the telephone supply! Being a router it will be IP based. Mine happens to be Vigor 2800 series model. The functionality is in-built. Having a WAN it will almost certainly be Layer 3 / IP Routed (unless it is used as a trunk line, instead becoming Layer 2 IP) - therefore you will need some form of IP PBX. Asterisk is an open-source PBX with available FXS / FXO hardware. Alternatively purchase a cheap PBX like Cisco or Avaya from eBay and use that.
