Prospects of career in VoIP and IP Telephony... (CCNA Voice)?

I completed my Engineering and I did CCNA and CCNP route certifications and CCNA security course. I joined a networking company a month ago and its my first job. After joining only, i understood that my company operates mainly on IP Telephony servicing and troubleshooting. Can any one please telling me the prospects of this field? I heard that only a very few qualified engineers are there in voice, so broader prospects. Some even say, its the technology of the future. I'm in India now. What about its scope, if i plan to settle abroad. Please guide me. Thank You

  1. VoIP is most certainly the future of telephony but only if infrastructure and ISP's can keep up. I used to do technical support for a major VoIP provider. Unless you are very passionate about communication I would avoid it. In the US, engineering in general, seems to be one of the fields that has suffered the least. Most VoIP providers do not have many engineers. It simply isn't cost effective. I could be wrong but it sounds like you have a job in a call center. If that is the case, this is a great opportunity for you gain some experience to move onto something much better.
  2. Yes, It the technology of the future. You can learn more about IP Telephony http://www.computerfreetips.com/Cisco_Unified_Communications_Manager_Express/main_CME.html
