PBX Question to the VOIP experts?
Hello, I am looking into a PBX solution for a small business. It appears that most virtual PBX solutions provide you a toll-free or a local number which 'forwards' the calls to your actual phone. The problem is I do not want a 'new' number, because most callers would call to the existing phone number. Is there any virtual PBX that work with an existing phone number? i.e. to set it up in a way that callers call to the existing business number and they are greeted with the extension option of the PBX. Please share your inputs. Thanks! I am located in Canada. Packet8 looked great, but doesn't allow porting for CDN numbers. Any other provider may be?

- I would check out Packet8...there in the VoIP business for 20 years...! I had my number ported within 7 days!! you can port your number...all their sales reps. speak English and a located in California http://www.packet8.net/business_services/ I use there service for over 5 years....and I also use them as my home service!
- Snail: I live in Canada, too. (Alberta) I picked InPhonex for that reason exactly. Packet8 does not provide DID's for Canada, like InPhonex does. I also use CallCentric. But, only InPhonex provides e911 in Canada.... it is one of the few that offer DID's + e911 to Canada. --------------------------------------------------- If you need to keep your current number, then regardless of whose service you subscribe to, you will need to "port" your number to their service. InPhonex will port your number to their service, on request. Then, they sell Linksys SPA-9000 IP-PBX box which you install at your business. Your calls will then be connected to your Linksys IP-PBX box, which then can be configured to route your business calls to your extension IP-Phones (SPA-941 IP Phones).
