Toshiba Phone System

How do I boost my signal of a lynksis Cisco N router or set up an acces point?

I have a four story house. My computer downstairs when I'm online or downloading, it uses up all the bandwidth of my router(2nd floor) and so my Laptop(3rd floor) and my game system(4th floor) can't get enough signal strength to get online. Plus my internet phone running through the router doesn't work from time to time. And my router does not have antennas. Should I try upgrading from a 6000 internet service to a 16000 or try boosting signal or create access point? Also, I don't know if something like this is available, but, is there a device that I can get, that if I put it on the 3rd floor or 4th floor will help to broadcast the signal evenly? Any Ideas that can help me out, is appreciated. Thanks

  1. In Linksys change the channel to maximum, I belive 13 is the maximum. Try this and it should help you to overcome this issue.
  2. You have a very large house. You might want to consider getting a second router and setup a WDS. This will be best way to boost your signal and maybe take the load off your current router. You will have to set the second router to bridge mode. The network name, network password, and channel has to be the same on both routers (not auto). The security/encryption has to be set to WEP. for it to work.
