If I install a IP phone system for my company, do I still need to apply for regular land line service?

- If you use an IP phone system you can operate without land-based phone lines. However, if your power or internet connection goes down, your phone system will also.
- Yes - you will still need lines from the phone company to tie in to so you can dial out. The IP Telephony system is a replacement for a PBX or other in-house phone system, but in order to call out of the company, you still need regular phone lines, they just tie into the IP system. Now if you have a multi-location corporate entity, any location using the IP system can be tied together (assuming they have a WAN link) and that will save you the cost of long distance calls to those locations.
- Yes, to process your inbound and outbound calls you need to apply for Analog lines or ISDN PRI or BRI lines. IP phones works on Vocie codecs. The internaly the system works on IP. You are phones are connected to switch in your netwrok. The phone is having static or dynamic IP address. if you want to connect your branch office you need establish VPN connection. So you are HO and Remote office in the same local area network. So if you want dial your branch just dial using extension numbers and vice versa.
- Stay away from VOIP .T hey not deliver what they promise .I do tech support for Shaw cable and I get calls about VOIP all the time. You need Q of S on your internet line to prioritize packets or your calls will drop and distort. That will cost you extra
- An IP phone is very cheap and it is very cool-got lot of features. It comes with Free CID,Voicemail, call forwarding, call hunting,three-way-calling and simulring..to go on. U can make long distance calls in local rates and also unlimited calls within a fixed monthly rent. But let me give you an idea of the other side of this phone system. It can go down when your Internet or when the power goes down. The IP phone can never replace POTS. Believe me this is my work.I work with IP phone and VoIP phone system. This is not reliable and may cause problems but still it can cut down your phone bills to about 50%. " SO THE BOTTOM LINE- HAVE A SINGLE LANDLINE FOR YOUR BUSINESS CALLS AND HAVE IP PHONES TO CALL OUT "
