- Weird, if you download skype (http://skype.com ) to your laptop, will it work?
- The best thing to do is to check if you have any anti virus or firewall blocking your outbound connections. Firstly go to msconfig by typing in "msconfig" in start/run and check if the services are on and are enabled. If you contact verizon ask them when you installed their software what services is it using from microsoft. To verify it that service is running. Majority of the time when you us VOIP the only reason why it isn't working is because your remote desktop isn't enabled. By enabling your remote desktop through right clicking on my computers/preferences you can activate remote desktop through the "remote tab" Many times if i was in your situation would go with the user right on top of me and go with his advice. Use a different type of program that would use the same hardware your using like Skype. These program do offer you to run a trail version just to test out if you like it. By doing this you can see if it is ether the hardware or the software which is the one giving you the program. Usually if you have an acer which I've had before and havn't done a clean install it may very well be the software that is bundled up with the machine that may be giving you problems. Check all your anti Virus software first to see if it isn't blocking anything. It usually the first thing that happens. Hope I was able to help.
