do IP addresse change?

does my Ip address in chat rooms change if I connected to the net through the phone , and in the other time I connect through a wirless system ? or it is allways the same ??

  2. Depends on what IP addresses you are talking about. If you mean on the public internet and you are referring to the IP address allocated by your ISP then the answer is usually yes. It is possible to have a static (fixed) IP but this usually costs more. If you have a router with NAT then is likely the the computer(s) connected to it will get a static IP (actually this depends on how your network is set up) but the WAN (wide are network...i.e the bit which faces the internet) will get a new one each time you connect. If you stay connected to the internet for a long time (e.g. ADSL/Cable) then even if you don't have a static IP you will keep the same IP for quite a while (defined by how long the 'lease' time is) unless you disconnect and reconnect.   3. You have different IP's on different devices. and as for your desktop pc it depends on whether you have a static or dynamic IP.
  4. It depends on type of your internet connection. If you use dial-up you have dynamic IP, every time you make connection to Internet - you have new IP.
