- A PBX or private branch exchange is what allows you to have features like extensions on your phone system so you can transfer calls and have internal dialing in a business etc. While there are still old hardware turn key systems out there if you are implementing a new PBX system you will probably want to use a virtual PBX. You can use a virtual PBX with either landline telephone or VoIP phone lines, but you will need something like a telephony board or FXO adapter if you plan to use a regular analog PSTN phone line. I would suggest you take a look at Axon which has a free version for a limited number of extensions (or free 14day trial of plus version) so you can play around with a PBX system and get a better feel for how it works and the capabilities it has. You will basically feed all incoming phone lines into your pbx and give each workstation an extension on your network which could be a USB phone or and IP phone or even just a softphone on a computer. I know that just a short cursory intro, but here is a link to the Axon virtual PBX product page where you can read a little more and download free if you want to test it out for some first hand learning http://www.nch.com.au/pbx/index.html
- I'll reference a few good website below if you are seeking information rather than re-posting.....but if you are looking for a pbx phone system for your business you can call and speak to an advisor at 888-VOIPSTORE (888-864-7786) for free.
