What should my Title be?

My current title is Information Technology Technician. I currently do the following type of work: Maintain roughly 20 2003 Servers in a domain environment, install and configure network switches and routers, manage a Cisco firewall and remote site firewalls, plan/implement software applications and debug issues and finally answer the phone during normal hours for regular support issues. I am trying to get our HR department to accept Systems Administrator. What do you all think?

  1. It's what you do on the job that matters, not your title. HR depts are always wary of overinflated titles anyway. Just list what you do at your job as you wrote in your question, and consider adding the following: Administered (fill in the blank). That's it. Your knowledge and experience will qualify you for the job, not your current job title.
