how does bluetooth advertising work?

i need to know how bluetooth advertising works i found a company http://proximitymedia.com/howworks.htm but it doesnt really show how it works. if you look at the diagram it says web server what is that? and what is gprs ip....i thought gprs is a mobile phone technology and what does it have to do with bluetooth advertising? i need the system to work for a cinema advertising available tickets. would a database and a server be needed? what is GPRS IP

2. Let's see here. Hmm. Okay. One bluetooth is just another form of wireless communication between enabled devices. (your mobile phone for example) Actually it's a few years older than actual Wi-Fi itself and will probably be outdated very soon anyway since it's really very small range. (about 40m). Wi-Fi on the other hand is brand new (well almost) and is of far greater range than bluetooth (about 1km) if I guess right. So bluetooth advertising doesn't exist really as it wouldn't generate much revenue. You're better off going wireless if that's what you were meaning to ask. And since all new mobilephones are wireless stanadard the days of bluetooth are numbered. To put it bluntly bluetooth advertising is really advertising over a wireless network. And since GPRS utilises Wireless there is a much greater chance of revenue as anyone with a Wi-Fi enabled phone within range would recieve the advert either by way of a text message or over the internet. As for GPRS IP. That's simply a WAP network address similar to internet IP address. Now as far as providing a database and server for this setup there is no need as it would mostly like be already on site. The only thing to do is make the existing network available to all wireless and bluetooth enabled devices within range. As for what a web server is. It's simply a network of computers built specifically to allow access to all the computers on the internet. That is one giant computer for 10,000,000 other smaller computers.
